April 10, 2018 — CHAPEL HILL, NC—APRIL 2018 On April 3, 2018, ICD Regent Dr. Bettie McKaig presented the Humanitarian and Leadership Student Awards at UNC School of Dentistry's 2018 Spurgeon Banquet held at The Carolina Club. The Student Leadership Award was presented to Korry Tauber who has excelled as Class President for the past four years, he has received numerous awards and his academic and clinical performance has been superlative. Foundation News — Fellows in Action — Moldova 2016

January 11, 2017 — Moldova The program that exists between the University of North Carolina Dental School and the Dental School in the Republic of Moldova was established in March of 2000 by ICD Fellows Robert Kriegsman and Stephen Mackler. It involves an exchange of faculty and students usually numbering between four and six participants. Most commonly it comprises a two-week visit during October for the Moldovans and a one-week trip during the spring break for the UNC students. District 16 North Carolina - Dr. Lynette McDonald Volunteers for the ICD Fisher House Program

September 2, 2015 — The Fisher House at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, North Carolina recently contacted Dr. Ted Roberson, USA Section Deputy Registrar and Fisher House contact person for North Carolina about a patient in need. The patient’s husband was in the hospital with a broken hip with no release date known. The patient had a fractured ceramic crown. Dr. Roberson contacted two ICD Fellows in the Fayetteville area (Drs. Lynette McDonald and David Hedgecoe) and both immediately responded their ability to see the patient. January 6, 2015 — Dr. Francis G. Serio named 2015 ADA Humanitarian Greenville, N.C. — In 1982, Dr. Francis G. "Frank" Serio took a leap of faith, making a one-man mission trip to provide dental care in a remote region of the Dominican Republic. Today, that first small step has grown into a dental charity that has provided care to thousands of residents in poor rural areas of that country and beyond.
