December 21, 2018 — The ICD-GHSA, NYU Langone Dental Chapter is pleased to report that in 2018 its members were active with global mission trips. In March 2018, a team of residents and alumni members conducted an academic mission in collaboration with the University of the West Indies-Mona Campus in Kingston, Jamaica. District 4 News — Dr. Ioana Bettios with faculty from Howard managed two missions with Dental Students to underserved populations

December 18, 2018 — Dental students from Howard University College of Dentistry under the direction of ICD Fellow Dr. Ioana Bettios and faculty from the University supported two missions at Remote Area Medical (RAM) in Southern Virginia. The students provided to underserved populations of over $600K dental care with extractions, restorations, cleanings, treatment plans during visits at Emporia, VA ( June 2018), and Gloucester, VA (Oct 2018) seeing over 650 patients.

November 14, 2018 — Dr. Demitroula Kouzounas and Dr. Barry Saltz created Dentists Who Care for ME. This annual event provides dental services to patients in need in Maine. "I can’t believe that it’s been 10 years since Barry Saltz and I partnered to help create an annual event called ‘Dentists Who Care for ME’ which donated over 1.2 million dollars of care and helped over 4,000 patients (not counting today’s event). Today, just in Skowhegan we saw about 35 patients and donated close to $10,000 of care!! August 24, 2018 — The Esperanza Center Health Services Inc./Catholic Charities was awarded $3,000.00 from the International College of Dentists USA Section Foundation to be used in the 2016 fiscal year to support the Esperanza Center Dental Program for Immigrants project. Number of patients served: FY 16 We served 1988 unduplicated patients which had 3677 visits or encounters of these patients we had 188 dental patients with 375 visits or encounters Demographics include Immigrants: 90% Latino from the following countries. México, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. The remaining 10% are from African countries.
