District 12 News — LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Opened the Advanced Clinical Care and Research Building

June 4, 2018 — On May 23, 2018, LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry opened the Advanced Clinical Care and Research Building on its campus at 1100 Florida Avenue. The $31 million, 64,899 square foot building houses $2.5 million of medical equipment, 4 clinics, and research labs. Local dignitaries and the DeSaix neighborhood joined LSU Health New Orleans leadership and dental school faculty, students, staff, alumni, donors, and patients at the celebration.

May 22, 2018 — Hopeful Honduras What?! It was disappointing to receive the email that our well-planned mission trip to Honduras had been put on hold. This can’t be true, I mumbled. I had been to four other countries in Central America to help with projects, but never to Honduras. Excitement had been running high, until the general protests started, following the bitterly contested elections in November. Widespread claims of election fraud in counting votes had prompted the outrage. April 23, 2018 — The ICD/ACD held their Annual Oregon/Washington Joint Meeting on March 10, 2018 at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, Oregon. The dinner and lecture were well attended, and the presentation title was: "How Animation Works and Its History", with speaker Neisje Morrell. Ms. Morrell is a studio and freelance 2D animator based in Portland Oregon. She has experience in animating commercials, TV shows, music videos and mobile games. District 13 News — Give Kids A Smile Day

February 27, 2018 — On February 10, 2018, San Joaquin Dental Society hosted it’s local Give Kids A Smile Day at Saint Raphael's Dental Clinic in Stockton, CA. Their goal was to provide approximately 85-100 underserved children with dental services free of charge. At this event children between the ages of 1-17 were treated. With a team of more than 100 volunteers, ICD Fellows Drs. Douglas Fong, Brad Louie, Lester Low, Bruce Toy, and Janice Scott, helped to examine 52 children and complete over $25,000 worth of free dentistry for the children.
