USA Section President's Message — June 2017

June 15, 2017 — Dear Fellows, It has been a very quick start to 2017 and the first five months have been filled with many activities and trips to regional meetings. In January, the ICD USA Section Executive Committee met in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Committee developed an agenda for the Section that adheres to the 2016 Strategic Plan and continues to promote the ICD in a favorable light. District 12 News - Louisiana ACD/ICD Annual Meeting

June 29, 2017 — On May 20, 2017, the American College of Dentists (ACD) and the International College of Dentists (ICD) held their Louisiana Annual Meeting at Mansur's on the Boulevard in Baton Rouge, LA. Keynote speaker: Dr. Bert Oettmeier, President of the ACD. The meeting was well attended by Fellows of both organizations and some of the candidates from the upcoming Class of 2017 were onsite and congratulated on their upcoming induction in Atlanta, GA this October. A huge thank you goes out to Dr. Kristi M. Soileau for planning this joint meeting. Dr. Soileau is the Editor for Louisiana.

April 26, 2017 — Dr. David M. Minahan (’75) 2017 Distinguished Alumnus Award Recipient In a 2013 WSDA News profile of Dr. Minahan, the newly elected WSDA president, Dr. Mark Walker (’81) called him “a great friend who is always willing to lend a hand.” Dr. Minahan’s long history of service to the WSDA, with honors including a WSDA Presidential Award in 2001, more than bears that out. March 22, 2017 — DOCARE International’s Global Health Outreach trip to Guatemala Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine Arizona recently joined the DOCARE International’s Global Health Outreach trip to Guatemala. This annual project has been well established within our university’s medical, podiatry and pharmacy programs for over fifteen years. Recent additions are MWU’s optometry, physical therapy and occupational therapy programs.
