President’s Message

Dr. Risé Martin, D.D.S

What a great and busy year for the Texas Section of ICD. Our ICD principles of mentoring dental students to encourage stronger ethical values and professionalism standards have been excellent guidelines for all of us.After hearing Dr. Kevin Seidler speak at our ICD/ACD breakfast in SanAntonio and feeling the enthusiasm of the students that accompanied him on his mission trip overseas, I was inspired to reach out more than ever to students. San Antonio Great Expectations had a Bar-B-Que to celebrate the successful completion of our first year. In July, San Antonio had a Burgers N Beer event for the incoming freshmen and mentors with 130 in attendance. Great Expectations at Baylor and Houston dental schools are going strong as well. ICD was represented at each dental school for the award ceremonies to present the ICD scholarship to the selected students.Wow, what great potential for our future. Forming a networking community such as this can only be beneficial for our profession. I am very proud to announce that the San Antonio District Dental Society won the Golden Apple Award for their efforts implementing the Great Expectations program at the UTHSCSADS.

The excitement builds as the ICD in Orlando approaches with Texas being well represented by members and ready to welcome into the ICD fellowship many excellent Texas dentists of exemplary qualifications. This has been a wonderful year and I have personally enjoyed representing you as your President for 2009-2010. Thank you very much for the confidence that you have shown me and the honor you bestowed upon me. Dr. Kevin Seidler will be installed in Dallas at our breakfast meeting on January 15. I look forward to seeing then if not before in Orlando.
