August CEC -- ICD Candidates

Halifax was great! You should have been there. We ate seafood until there was none left. We toured Peggy's Cove, the Titanic Museum, the waterfront, did a city tour, and had a harbour cruise. The real lucky ones went on the post trip where they toured Cape Breton and the historic sites throughout the whole area. Everyone was impressed with Nova Scotia and would go back in a heart beat. This was also our best-attended CEC since 2001. We had over 200 people at the reception on Wednesday evening. Our four speakers from Dalhousie University were some of the best we have ever heard.

All our Committees met on Tuesday, presented their decisions to the Board of Regents on Wednesday and significant decisions were made by the BOR. One important decision was the time when Officers and Regents take over their positions. By unanimous decision, the change will take place on the day after the Convocation at one minute after midnight. It has been on the January 1 following the Convocation. We think this will significantly increase the amount of time the Officers and Regents will be effective. Another important decision was to change the Board of Regents meeting from July back to the March-April timeframe beginning in 2008. The meeting will be strictly devoted to the business of the Section and will take place on a Saturday. This will allow more of our younger Fellows to participate.

Don't forget, we DO have a Continuing Education Conference in 2007 in Atlanta. We have a contract with Omni Hotel and plenty of things to do in the city. There will most likely be a post trip to Savannah. All of that is being worked on by Don Johnson and the Atlanta Fellows. Put July 18-21 on your calendar. This will be a CEC you don't want to miss.
