ICD Journalism Awards

Continuing as one of the ICD's longest ongoing projects, the Journalism awards will be entering its 38th year of competition next year. The awards are open to any English language dental publication throughout the world.

The project's purpose is to recognize those publications that have exhibited outstanding journalism in content, graphics and improvement during the past year and encourage others to bring their own publication to a higher level. The competition has been placed in high esteem by Dental Editors and their staffs over the years shown by the high level of quality publications that have entered the contest each year.

The Journalism Awards Committee would like to encourage smaller publications to enter the contest. To do this, they have established two divisions based on distribution, budget and assistance. Thus, small state and component societies will not have to compete against the large state and national organizations which have large staffs and budgets.

ICD Annual Meeting Photos

Eye of the Islands Photography has posted the professional photographs which were taken in Honolulu Hawaii, during our October 2009 ICD Convocation and Dinner Dance. The photos are available for purchase and can now be viewed online at www.collages.net. The user name is ICD and the password is 6627.

Dr. Daniel Orr accepts Division II Outstanding Cover Award

ICD Fellows should encourage editors of dental organizations in which they are members to enter the 2010 competition. They have nothing to lose but some costs for postage. They certainly have no chance to win, if they do not enter.

Entry Forms for 2010 can be downloaded from the ICD website at http://www.usa-icd.org/information/awardees.htm. Entries must be received by April 15, 2010 and eligible entries must have been published in 2009.

The Awards are presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Dental Editors during the ADA annual meeting. Any ICD Fellow is encouraged to attend this ceremony and observe this worthwhile ICD project in action. Click here for a short description of the ICD Journalism Awards and the 2009 award winners.
