Dr. Simmons will assume the role of Editor for the USA Section on January 1, 2017.
Dr. H. Clifton Simmons III of Nashville, TN was elected Editor of the USA Section of the ICD at the annual meeting in Denver. On January 1, 2017, Dr. Simmons will replace Dr. Richard Galeone who is resigning after serving as Editor for thirteen years. Dr. Simmons III received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry. He is an assistant clinical professor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and is an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry. He also has a private practice in Nashville. Dr. Simmons is a Diplomate of the American Board of Craniofacial Pain and the American Board of Orofacial Pain and is the immediate past president of the American Board of Craniofacial Pain. In addition to being a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, he is honored to be a fellow of several others dental organizations. Dr. Simmons is past president and past editor of both the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and the Tennessee Academy of General Dentistry. He is the editor of the Journal of the Tennessee Dental Association and past president of the Nashville Dental Society. He is the TMJ/Craniofacial Editor for the Journal of Craniomandibular and Sleep Practice and on the editorial board of the Journal of the American College of Dentists. Dr. Simmons is the recipient of the Tennessee Academy of General Dentistry 2007 Dentist of the Year Award. He was president of the Tennessee Dental Association in 2014-2015.
